  • La plante, moulue et réduite en un extrait liquide (1 : 1,25), contient donc 1,25% de thymol et 0,175% de carvacrol.

  • Ses autres composants principaux sont les suivants : 4-terpinéol,  α- et β-pinène,    β-carophyllène, bornéol, linalol, géraniol, thuyanol, paracymène et citronellal

Ses effets bactéricides, antiviraux et antimycosiques font du thym un antiseptique. 

Il possède aussi une action immunostimulante, antioxydante et mucolytique (= sécrétolytique).

L’acide rosmarinique est partiellement responsable de ses effets immunostimulants et antioxydants. Il a en outre été démontré que d’autres composants du thym avaient également de puissantes propriétés antioxydantes. Il s’agit d’un diméthylbiphényle et d’un flavonoïde, à savoir un eriodictyol. Ces substances contenues dans le thym font diminuer la production des anions superoxydes ainsi que la peroxydation mitochondriale et cellulaire.

Aucune réaction anormale si l’on respecte la posologie recommandée.
